Welcome to Emmanuel Music...

where all are welcome!    Emmanuel has an enthusiastic, dedicated, and growing choir.  The choir leads hymns and sings anthems at 10:30 a.m. Sunday services.  The choir also records hymns and anthems for Emmanuel's 9:00 a.m. online services.  We are fortunate to have some wonderful vocal soloists and instrumentalists - flute, cello, piano, and bassoon, guitar, mandolin, accordion, harmonium - with guest instrumentalists on oboe, violin and clarinet.   Choir rehearsals and recording sessions are on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Emmanuel.  If you would like to join our choir, play an instrument, sing a solo, or be involved in music at Emmanuel in any way, please contact Music Director Gillian Lyons

“Choir is not a frill: it’s like a great oak that rises up from the centre of the human race and spreads its branches everywhere. That’s what music does for us, and choral music stands as one of the supreme examples of it.”

                - John Rutter, English composer and conductor

“Singing with a crowd is a proven way to lower stress levels and has been linked to improved blood circulation too. No talent? No problem. Even if you just pretend to sing along, you’ll still get the health benefits.”

                - Chatelaine Magazine, September, 2017

Why We Sing

by Greg Gilpin

A sound of hope, a sound of peace, a sound that celebrates and speaks what we believe.

A sound of love, a sound so strong.  It’s amazing what is given when we share a song.

This is why we sing, why we lift our voice, why we stand as one in harmony.

This is why we sing, why we lift our voice.  Take my hand and sing with me.

Soothe a soul, mend a heart, bring together lives that have been torn apart.

Share the joy, find a friend.  It’s a never ending gift that circles back again.

This is why we sing, why we lift our voice, why we stand as one in harmony

This is why we sing, why we lift our voice. Take my hand and sing with me.

Music builds a bridge, it can tear down a wall.

Music is a language that can speak to one and all!

This is why we sing, why we lift our voice, why we stand as one in harmony.

This is why we sing, why we lift our voice.  Take my hand and sing with me.

This is why we sing!
